There is a Sicily that you expect and one yet to be discovered.
In the south-eastern edge of the island, far from the most beaten circuits and wrapped in the embrace of the plateau of the Iblei Mountains, Villa Fegotto is one of those places that reveal an unprecedented and authentic face of Sicilian history and culture.
A living and vital testimony of a past that has defied the succession of years and generations to reach us intact.

The Villa is the heart of the ancient Fegotto fiefdom, whose long history, which unfolds from the seventeenth century to the mid-twentieth century, represents a model of enlightened and modern local entrepreneurship. The nerve center of the territory of Chiaramonte Gulfi, of which it was a social, political and religious point of reference, the Fegotto has been the fulcrum of initiatives and the scene of events over the decades.
Today Fegotto welcomes visitors and events, offering its guests the unique experience of immersing themselves in history, culture and the enchanting Sicilian landscape.

An open and airy hilly landscape,
furrowed by the characteristic dry stone walls
and dotted with olive trees, carob trees, almond trees and rows of vines

An opportunity to experience the authentic soul of Sicily, which the passage of time has not nicked
The image of an active, productive and avant-garde Sicilian entrepreneurial class has often remained hidden behind another representation, of Gattopardian memory, which crystallizes Sicily in the reluctance to change that is not façade.
Il Fegotto tells a different story, in which contemporaries can read the liveliness and intelligence of men dedicated to innovation and progress

A long history of families,
a history of work, of the culture of “doing”,
The icon of a Sicilianity to be rediscovered and enhanced
Around the manor house there is an architectural complex including work rooms intended for the most varied uses, from the extraordinary millstone-cellar to the granary and the oil mill, from the stables to the courtyards and workshops. A system of factories that, as a whole, constituted a functional and self-sufficient farm.
Alongside the work environments, perfectly integrated into the Fegotto complex were the buildings dedicated to social and religious life: the buildings where the settlers lived, the school, the church, the post office. Demonstrating the strategic role that the Fegotto has played for decades in the not only economic, but also administrative and cultural fabric of the territory.

Different from each other but equally suggestive,
tell a story of industriousness
and functional and aesthetic organization of spaces
The Italian garden, which preserves botanical collections of great value, adds another piece to this story: the taste for beauty and the aspiration to refinement, the other side of the coin of an entrepreneurial class that over time evolved its lifestyles and its social positioning.

An immersive experience in the plant world
with its varied aromas
and its infinite manifestations
Villa Fegotto was, and still is, a place to live in. Not only memory of the past, not only testimony of an unprecedented aspect of Sicily, but also, and above all, a home for generations of inhabitants and today of visitors.

An opportunity to take a leap into the past
and feel part of an important fragment
of Sicilian history
